When A Woman Prays

I planted a rose and I talked with God
I looked straight into the clear sky so blue
And I said, Dear God you do the rest
I have done all that I can do

The sun was warm on the moist ground
The wind from the south cooled my lifted face
And I think God came from the far blue sky
To watch in my small garden space

For this morning I found it, a lovely thing
A red rose proud on its red thorned stem
And there like little candles lit
Were the red tipped buds, a score of them

I believe God comes for a little while
When any new flower takes root and grows
And I am quite sure that he comes and stays
When a woman prays when she plants a rose

  9. Oh Susie,
Out of all the poems you've written, that is my favorite poem of all. I would love to put it on my blog someday, if it's ok with you. The rose, the poem, the words of God; there is just one thing to say about it.....PERFECT.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

ps - your new blog design is so pretty for spring.

  10. Susie, When my mother passed, I planted a rose in her memory, it died ...then I planted another...the first year it had two rose, one for me and one for mommy. Last year it bloomed, many roses, this year it is so big and promising. Plus the lilac bushes I brought here from mom's house the day of her funeral are blooming this year. I think God likes for us to plant flowers and trees.xoxo,Susie
