That Stinky Skunk
A stinky little skunk
paid a visit to me
I never did see him
he didn't want me to see
But he left his mark
and he wanted me to smell
as he ran through the yard
he raised his stinky tail
Such a horrible scent
drifting through the air
couldn't stick my head out
it seem so unfair
That's what he wanted
and he got his way
he kept me in the house
and it made his day
I sure hope the next time
he's out of stinky junk
when he runs through my yard
that stinky little skunk
Susie Swanson,2011
Wheeeeew, been running around like a chicken with its head cut off all week..I bet most have already give up and booted me off of here..I forgot to look and see if I lost any Followers..
Been taking care of the sick, you know how that goes..Everybody seems to be on the mend and I got a spare minute to post..
Of course this morning was no exception, I was running around as usual doing my morning thing when I opened the door and slamed it back...IT'S SPRING..that's what my daddy use to say when the skunks passed through..He always told me the reason we had them so bad was that we lived near a creek..Over the years I've come to realize daddy was right, especially this time of year..
After the smell passed I made my way out the door and managed to have a great day, plenty of sunshine and temps near 80 again, tomorrow it suppose to be rain and more storms...Can't complain ,could be a lot worse, Please continue to remember the people that lost so much this week with all the bad weather and the School Shooting in Ohio..What's the world coming to..
I wrote this little poem and posted it last spring, this morning it came back to me smack kadab in the face.. Good Luck with the skunks this year folks...Blessings, Susie

Glad to hear that..Wish we were cooler, bad storms coming in today..
DeleteGreat poem Susie, though a most unusual subject but I guess that's what makes poetry so interesting, one can write about anything.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.

DeleteThat was too cute, Miss Susie! We have a skunk that has taken up residence in our barn and I'm so afraid I'll go in there one morning to feed and get a really unpleasant surprise! *yikes*
ReplyDeleteI'm glad spring is on the way!! Have a wonderful weekend, dear.
Oh I feel sorry for you..It must be horrible..Hope you have a wonderful weekend as well..
DeleteHi Susie! Guess what? I got my surprise package in the mail today! Thank you so much, I was just tickled to death! That was so sweet and thoughtful of you. The book and the magazines are wonderful. I am really looking forward to reading the book. I sat this afternoon and read both the magazines. I have gotten Country Woman before, but didn't have either of these issues. It was fun to see the older issue and compare it to the new one. Thank you too for your sweet letter, your kind words meant the world to me and I will treasure them! I love your skunk poem it really made me smile. Every once in a while we will catch a whiff of one, but I have never actually seen one since coming to Georgia. We used to see them every so often in a nature center we had back in California. Thankfully they were always off in the distance! :) Have a wonderful weekend ahead! With Love, Delisa :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy you got it..Country Woman is a great magazine.. I love it..I'm glad you don't have to much trouble with skunks..they are awful for us this time of year..Hope you have a nice weekend as well..
DeleteI haven't smelled that awful smell but a few times, but it's sure one you never forget!
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure..Thank you..
DeleteHi Susie, I'm so glad that you are all okay! My goodness, that was a pretty close call. I'm so sorry that you had to go through such a scary night. I'm glad you could all gather together in the storm shelter. We had a tornado warning this afternoon. There was one spotted just south of us, in the same county. The wind was just howling. No one has a storm shelter in our area because the water level is too high to build anything underground. So Tony and I quickly emptied our master bed room closet which goes back underneath the stair case. We were told it was the safest place for the family to take shelter. My niece lives in a trailer nearby and she rushed over to the house. Thankfully it was all over in about an hour. I am very afraid of tornados, I have never been in one before. I went through some serious earthquakes when I was growing up in California, but tornados and hurricanes are new to me. My heart is breaking for all of the people who were touched by these storms. I hope that you have a quite and restful night. With Love, Delisa
ReplyDeleteThank you Delisa and I'm glad you all are ok as well..I left a comment on yours..
