On a beautiful October day
forty one years ago
on the bed a white dress lay
anticipation continued to grow
Flowers were still in bloom
a special October, not plain
joy surely did loom
despite the drizzle of rain
Vows were earnestly made
on the wings of love and a prayer
at God's feet we gladly laid
our lives before him there
Me in my white dress
both in our wedding attire
the day was the very best
two people could ever share
Each year the memories grow
in my heart forever to stay
of that October long ago
and my wonderful wedding day

ReplyDeleteI can close my eyes too and see my wedding dress hanging on the door of the closet in my childhood bedroom at my parent's house. My parents kindly invited me to move back home six months before the wedding to help save money. It was a wonderful gift and helped Tony and I to start out with a little nest egg. So I left my apartment that I shared with one of my girlfriends and came back to the little room where I had spent all my girlhood days.
Those six months flew by like a whirlwind. By this time, my mother was very severely disabled, but despite this, she got up on her crutches and she and my dad made me a special breakfast the morning of the wedding. I will never forget the sweetness of that morning for as long as I live. Tony and I will be married 23 years in Dec. Congratulations Susie and Kenneth and I hope you have a wonderful day!! Delisa :)

I remember those young, care-free days like it was yesterday but when you find your soulmate , you can't picture it any other way..
