The Good Old Summer Time
Summer is slowly passing by
tomorrow is already the first of July
Hot weather is upon us, it's time to retreat
under a big shade tree down by the creek
I'll grab the fishing pole and fish for awhile
then jump in feet first with a big, old smile
When I'm done and the day is through
I'll catch fireflies, something else I like to do
The good old summer time, the best time of year
I' going to enjoy it while it's still here
Susie Swanson
Folks I just don't know if this one cuts the mustard or not.
Oh well, hope you enjoy the summer, Blessings Susie

Hi Susie! I love the poem, it really captures the lazy feel of summer. I love the line about fishing at the creek and jumping in with a big smile! There are few things in life that feel so refreshing! I have fond memories of fishing with my brother when I was a young girl. We lived by the ocean and we would fish off of the pier. It was so wonderful to get up early in the morning before the it was light and go down to the beach. We would get donuts and go to the bait shop and then fish until about noon. I hope you are having a lovely weekend! Delisa :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Maggie and Delisa, Just a passing thought or two. Glad you both liked it and thanks for stopping by..Susie
