God Is Near

                                           Looking back along the years
I can see the hand of God
                                           Leading me down every path
                                           that my feet have trod

I can see the long, steep hills
that I dreaded so to climb
Now I know he went with me
                                           up them everytime

And I think he walked with me
when I thought I walked alone
Through those far away shadows, dark
                                           valleys I have known

And the times I could not walk
                                           he carried me on through
                                           The sorrows and heartaches
                                           he lessened them too

                                           Though I am only human
                                           he knows me very well
                                           Without him by my side
I would be nothing but a shell

So today why should I doubt
and today why should I fear
Sometimes I shall look and see
                                           even now, God is near

  3. Susie, For some reason, I needed your beautiful poem today. I love to read all the things you write about...it's like learning about your days as a youngster, your parents, and you give us comfort when writing about God. Thank you. xoxox,Susie

  4. Hi Susie, what a lovely poem! Isn't that so true? Sometimes it is when we look back that we see we were carried. Sometimes what we pray for doesn't happen exactly like what we asked, but then in the long term when we we see the big picture, we find that we were helped in deeper much more meaningful ways, because God always know what is best for us. I hope you have a great week ahead! With Love, Delisa :)

  5. Lovely! This reminds me of the Footprints poem and the song "He's got the whole world in His hands" for some reason. It's comforting to know God is always there!

  7. This poem reminded me a little of the famous 'footprints in the sand' one of my very favorites. I do believe I like yours even better.
One of my favorite verses is: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...Something I must try to remember when I start to get that terrible disconnected feeling! He is only a prayer away.
