Everyday is very special
In my life, it seems to be
Rising in the morning
Is a blessing just for me
Each day that I am given
With my health and even more
Is more than I was promised
Than the day I lived before
My wonderful, loving family
Surrounds me each day
God's great treasured gift
Sent from heaven my way
A home filled with happiness
And joy abides within
Sewn with the thread of love
On that I can depend
When I'm in the valley
My friends are always there
To lift me up and carry me
Because they truly care
The beauty of a sunrise
Sparkles on the morning dew
Awakens my soul
And warms me through and through
A picture perfect blessing
Of a night time sky
With the stars shining brightly
Is a blessing from on high
My little flower garden
Means so much to me
I planted it there
God grew it for me
Even the little birds
Singing in the trees
Warms my heart
With their sweet melodies
The days of my youth
Are no longer here
I'm more grateful for each blessing
Now that older days are here
So every morning when I awake
And my feet hit the floor
I thank God so very kindly
For giving me one more

DeleteI feel like this too Susie,
ReplyDeleteSo much to be thankful for...The more we lose throughout the years, the more we learn to treasure what is left.
I am learning to value these gifts that you have mentioned in your poem each and every day...never taking them for granted, and enjoying them fully!
~Blessings and love~ Lisa
Same here Lisa.. Time is of the essence as we get older..thank you so much.
DeleteHi Susie! I am so happy to hear that you are working on your new book. I am very excited about it and I am really looking forward to reading it when it is finished. I treasure the book you sent me and keep it in the basket next to my chair. I often pick it up and read through your poems. They have always touched my heart.
ReplyDeleteI am having a busy month too, just normal things like getting my spring cleaning finished. I haven't had as much time or energy to write in my blog or go visiting. The fibromyalgia pain has been a little better this month so far, but I am having to make a lot of time for myself to rest in between projects. It always gets worse whenever it rains. I am getting to where I am dreading cloudy skies. We had a big storm yesterday and it is suppose to rain into the night again.
I am happy to hear that you got your garden planted. Everything is very green down our way, and all the new spring grass has finally grown in. At night everything smells sweet like wild honeysuckle and the forest is alive with sounds of a million frogs all croaking at once. I hope you have a wonderful day ahead my friend and again I just want to say how much I love the new poems, especially the one about My Mother's Prayers. That was beautiful! With Love, Delisa :)
Hi Delisa, so glad to hear from you. It is a busy time for all of us but I love spring. I can just picture it down there, so beautiful and green. I love sitting on the porch and catching the drifts of honeysuckle and roses..I love listening to the frogs in the evening too.I'm happy you are feeling better and up and about.. I will let you know about the book. I'm so glad you're enjoying "Rhymes Of My Life".. I'm really excited about this one.. You take care.
DeleteSusie, May 19th has made it a full year that my best friend from my school days passed away. I miss her. Carolyn was the only kid my mom would let me stay all night with..I know it was because she knew her parents had the way of raising kids. Carolyn and I drifted apart for a few years , as we raised our own kids. Then right before retiring , we got back together for coffee every morning at work. After we retired, we saw each other just about every day for the 1st six months...then it was shopping and lunch once a month. The years we were apart we were still friends. Your poem has made me cry thinking of the younger days gone by. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOh this brought tears to my eyes Susie. I'm so sorry for your loss.. It never gets easier we just have to adjust and go on. Love and prayers to you my dear friend.
DeleteOh~ this was so beautiful, Susie!! God's beauty is all around us if we will only take the time to look... and "His mercies endureth forever." ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThank you Paula, you are so right.Hugs to you.
