To Be A Poet

I say to you from one who has known
To be a poet you must walk alone

Happiness and sadness, they both must share
The same road that lies before you there

The voice of laughter may sing you a song
Reach out for the chance to sing along

On darkened paths you may walk down
Sadness with tears can be an achieving crown

Many hills may seem to steep to climb
With a mountain of words you can climb any time

Go forth and trod each path you're on
The measure of a poet can be mighty strong

Prepare yourself for the journey ahead
And never look back until you've sewn the final thread

Hold tight to your dream and never let go
And wait for the lyrics to put on a grand show

"Many hills may seem too steep to climb
With a mountain of words you can climb any time"

  2. I especially like the line with a mountain of words you can climb.
It seems I'm always trying to climb a mountain of words though I'd never thought of it in that way.
Enjoyed reading this and love the thought of going down the path with you.
Like the path of life we have the happiness and heartache.
    Thanks for sharing this one.
    Blessings, Barb

  3. Thank you both, I'm always looking for the mountain of words and sometimes they are hard for me to find. I think it's because I try to hard. Thank you for stopping by. Susie

  5. I like the suggestion in your words to embrace every experience, every emotion, from the laughter to the darkened paths. We write what we know, so it's important to really know these places.

  8. Thank you all so much. Yes we do embrace every experience and go with it. When I get an inspiration it's like I'm in another world, I love the challenge, I feel we do walk alone but in a good way. I love visiting those places when I can find the right words... Thanks again...Susie

  13. Thank you Delisa, that really touches my heart. I love sharing my poetry with you and everyone and I love your poetry it touches my heart. Your blog is always so uplifting. I try to put up some new ones but the last two, I wrote a while back. I'm having a small writer's block right now and I get so frustrated. I guess that's my problem though. I've started three different poems and can't get anywhere with them. Maybe in time.. Thank you again for the nice words you are so very kind... Susie.
