If I can put new hope within a heart
one who has lost hope
If I can help one climb
an even higher slope
then I shall begrudge no time
or strength that I can spend, for I know
how great may be the need
If I can help through any darkened time
I shall be glad indeed
If I can put a smile upon a face
wipe bitter tears away
put back some inner piece
of a broken heart's dismay
My purpose will have been served
on this my life's one more day
To reach out and touch someone
is worth more than any gold
For I recall how much I have been in need
distressed, distraught, dismayed
and hands have reached to help indeed
that lifted me up and prayed
We all walk together and beside
when life's struggles and trials are more
then any heart or soul can bare
Is it not better then to care
and not ask for anything more
And if my few, small words of verse
can bring joy or a smile
bring comfort to those in despair
walk in their shoes a mile
I shall be glad indeed

Precious poem, Susie. God bless.
ReplyDeleteThank you. God Bless you too.
DeleteYes, it's so nice to be able to help those that are hurting. It lifts us up knowing that we made a difference in someone's life. This poem truly reflects upon that. I have been thinking of doing some volunteer work lately. It brings us joy as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jess has been to so many different places, and there's no slowing her down. She's my traveler in the family haha. She is determined to see as many places as she can.
Have a good Friday, Susie.

DeleteThis poem reminds me of a friend of mine. We've known each other nearly twenty years...She struggled with depression alot and sometimes calls me and we talk and counsel together...It takes hours, but it is always time well spent...She tries to apologise for taking up my afternoon, but I always remind her that the housework can wait, and we always end up in deep fellowship with the Lord in our midst...She is always there for me too...I even bugged her once while she was getting a chiropractic adjustment, LOL!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love~ Lisa

Awe, thank you so much Brenda and you are so right .Hope you have a nice day as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Susie! This is such a tender and touching poem, filled with so much brotherly love and inner strength. It takes a lot of courage and love to pledge to help those who need a hand and to offer kind words of hope. How it must make our heavenly Father rejoice when he see those who are determined not to give in and let this violent old world mold their hearts. Just like Jesus said "You will know my disciples by the love they have among themselves.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind and uplifting comment! I'm still hurting pretty bad but I am in good spirits. Trying to take it all in stride, and keep focused on some of the happy things that have been happening.
Work is continuing on our bathroom and it should be finished tomorrow. They put in a new tub, toilet and sink, fixed many plumbing issues and painted the walls a beautiful robin's egg blue. It is so cheery and bright. I found a pretty white shower curtain made of battenburg lace on ebay and a few other cute accessories. Once they finish they are going to begin on the next room and work through the house. I'm so thankful that I am able to just watch! :) We have remodeled so many homes over the year and then for both of our parents. It is so nice to have some help. Have a nice evening my friend, I'm of to bed now. Until next time...Thanks again for sharing your beautiful poetry! With Love, Delisa :)
Thank you so much Delisa for the sweet words. You always know what to say to make my day . I'm so sorry for what happened to you and i'm praying you will get relief soon. I bet your house will look beautiful when it is finished. We did that a couple of years a go and it was a big mess to start with and clean up but it was well worth it.. You take care. Blessings and love.
