Come Go With Me

                                                Come go with me
                                                like a kindred friend
                                                we'll walk through the past
                                                where our ancestors have been

                                                We'll visit the places
                                                where they once grew
                                                and absorb every moment
                                                as we walk on through

                                             We'll stroll through valleys
                                              over hills and plains
                                              and capture the beauty
                                              of spring time rains

                                             We'll listen to the echoes
                                              in the distance afar
                                              those old familiar voices
                                              having raised high the bar

                                          We'll experience the joys
                                           that filled their days
                                           and follow the examples
                                           set forth in yesterdays

                                           We'll wear the same shoes
                                            and walk the same mile
                                            and remember the past
                                            with tears and a smile

                                           Then when we return
                                            to the present day winds
                                            let us never forget
                                            when our journey ends

As another year comes to an end and a new year begins, I want to thank each one of you for your love, caring, prayers, friendship and most of all your words of encouragement. They mean so much to me.  Each one of you are very special  and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your uplifting posts.. They always make my day. I look forward to them. I may not have as much time as I would like to visit but I enjoy every minute and every post..
As eveyone knows by now, I'm a frequent visitor of the past.. There's something about it that inspires me more than anything I could ever explain. It may not appeal to some but I will eventually and hopefully come up with something you might like. I just have to pull myself back to the present every now and then.
With that said I would like to wish each one of you a Happy New Year. As for me, I'll be visiting the old year quite often, more yesterdays to write about.. May God Bless Each One..

  5. You write beautifully, straight from the heart, and its a good one.
The past is our now and the future. I love history and the past. Not to dwell on and not to wish back, but as you do, to remember and rejoice in. God Bless you for the New Year.. may it be everything you desire. Much love Crystal Mary

  6. Surely if such a journey is embarked upon, how everything in today's world can be revolutionized with old love and reasoning which was way more rational and admirable.
    Beautiful it is!

  8. Hello Susie,

Amazing photos. I wonder if these are photos taken by you in the place you live or from the internet. Whatever it is the photos are spellbinding and fascinating. For a town dweller like me the vast stretches of greenery, peaceful atmosphere, the fresh breeze, unpolluted air and the leisurely walk are all wonders which I can never experience here. We only have concrete jungles, congested roads, honking of horn, black smoke from exhaust pipes of motor vehicles, people rushing around preoccupied with their own problems and thoughts.

As we grown older we often live in the past and think those wonderful days will never come back. But I believe life is in the present and therefore we should not forget to live in the present. Past is very dear to all of us and certainly we should cherish it.

Your poem is very thought provoking and I must appreciate your beautiful writing, simple and easy flowing.I enjoyed reading it.

Wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas season and an absolutely fantastic New Year.
    Joseph

  10. Hi Susie, I love this poem! How I would like to take such a walk and see all the old places and the dear ones who "raised high the bar". I love that expression. I think often about the examples my Mom, Dad, Grandpa and others set for me and how important it is to honor them by trying to meet the challenges of life the best way I can. The way they showed me how. How fortunate we are to have such love ones and such times to remember. Have a wonderful afternoon ahead Susie! Delisa :)

  15. I really like this one Susie. As some one wise said, "They who do not learn from the mistakes of the past are destined to repeat them." If we can learn from the things that were done right, I believe we can also repeat those. Boy, do we need more of that!

  20. Susie,
Yes, I understand you being a visitor of the past. The past holds many memories. Me and my sister were just talking the other day about the traditions that we had when we were growing up. And to this day, I still have some of the same traditions. I love your poetry Susie, and that first picture - I would love to have a house right there alongside that country road. I want to thank you for your friendship this year. I hope the New Year brings you much joy, and I look forward to many more wonderful poems, my friend.

  21. Hi Susie! How are you today? I hope you are having a nice friday. It has been a quiet day, Tony is still home on vacation and it is nice to hear him tinkering around the house. I have been continuing to rest my back but I am moving better and was able to get up today and do little laundry which is a big improvement. Have a nice afternoon! Delisa :)
